Ok. Im taking a road trip from the Pacific all the way to the Atlantic in my little car. Hidden in my car's sunvisor (all the time) is my Kershaw Leek. My beloved BM 806 AFCK (4" blade) is usually concealed in my pants as an EDC.

Road plan is as follows:
Cali to Arizona to Colorado to Texas to Louisiana though Mississippi and Alabama and finally, back home in good old Florida by Christmas, just in time for Momma's stuffing. :D

Now legally, am I in the clear for all or most or some or none of these states? Is the Leek legal if it stays in the car? Is 4" over the legal limit for concealed blades in any of these states?

...Aren't I glad I left the machete in New Orleans...

Thanks a bunch to all you knife nuts that actually study the laws.

Umm...can someone please respond? I know one of you knows the laws regarding concealed knives! I asked because I would really like to know prior to leaving California (in a few days) Hopefully, Im not here just jerkin myself around. :jerkit: Thanks.

Thanks to both of you. That's a good start. As far as anyone knows, are spring loaded assisted openers like the Leek cause any specific legal problems with regard to concealment and in-vehicle carry?

P.S. BTW, you texas boys must have some big knives. 5 and 1/2 is big as hell for a folder. Seems silly to have a limit at all.

Do not dip down into Matagorda County, Texas with the Leek; that DA will consider it a switchblade. In San Antonio, there is a city ordinance against folding knives with blades that lock in the open position. Yes, that is right, virtually every folder sold today is illegal in San Antonio, but of course that is a city ordinance, punishable in a similar manner as a traffic ticket. Links to every state's weapon laws can be found at www.packing.org .
