I have an old one. It is one solid piece of metal with no rubber on the handle. I'm pretty sure it is thicker than the newer one and it has a plain edge chisel grind. The newer one probably will cut better but the old one should be stronger.

I have both, the old thick chisel ground one, and the Kraton handled thinner one. The newer Kraton handled version, has a T shaped tang that is covered with the molded Kraton.
The older version is a lot sturdier and meant more as a last ditch defense weapon, the newer one was more of a keychain knife with defensive capability.
