curious about military orders

I am very curious to learn what the military is asking from Busse. I think the knives are awesome as is, but there is apparently custom orders going on all the time... is it mainly for color such as desert orders, or are they getting truly custom knives based on a particular use?

Thanks guys, this is really interesting to me... and I want one of each!

Very often the military knives are just that - only for the military mainly because they are usually designed in conjunction with the military branch ordering them and the design is theirs. Once in a blue moon there is an overrun that Jerry is able to share with the rest of us. The Arctic Team knives were a good example of that - although they went real quick.

Colors are part of it - but only a small part.

Hope that helps!

Marc

Hi Marc,
I guess you can't post any pics.I collect military knives and would really like to see what they get. Thanks for the info anyway even if you can't post pics.I understand.

Marc and Jerry, I understand that I am probably asking for too much.

I just appreciate everything you guys do for the Military and the fact that you guys are making the best knives on the planet for the most deserving people out there... the ones who protect our freedom and way of life, well I thank you for doing what you do.

Knives are the oldest tool on the planet right? Through constant improvements in technology you are making the best tools for us all. I am just happy I finally found you guys.

Cheers!

If the desert models don't come with sheaths, then who supplies them to the military?

Oh wait, I bet they just keep em clamped between their teeth all the time, for quicker access!:D

...and that my friends, is why folks like me do what we do!

Good question about the sheaths. We do a lot of military sheaths that are very specialized. . . and we only run what we deliver. We don't normally sell military over runs and therefore do not have the sheaths that accompany them. And as Marc pointed out, the selling of over runs is not always up to us.

Oku,

Exactly! ;)

Hi Jerry,
Thanks for the answers on the military knives and sheaths.I was going to say your up late but I am also.I'm at a show this weekend and may not get to see the knives on Friday night.Very happy I got 2 last week.I did want to try to get one at least of the Desert Air Rescue oh well maybe next time.
Take care,
Pete

Jerry

If you wait another week everyone will be at Indy;)

I agree that you should wait another week. I found out last night that I probably won't be able to be at my computer at 9.

Everyone being in Indy shouldn't be a problem, some of us are already here. All you out of town folks can come over to my house and I'll let you send an email as soon as I'm finshed.
