Here's a little something I made for fun. Don't ding me on the scratches and rough edges, it's strictly for opening paint cans and brewskies and took me about an hour to make. 1/8" 440C, 5 inches long with red textured G10. Cheers! :)

I like it Peter. The G10 adds just the right touch. I'll bet it gets a lot of use too!:D That reminds me of a project I've been putting off for a long time now. It's a windowbreaker/seatbelt slicer for thekids cars.

Nice job!

Yeah, it's heat treated but not for very long or well. I just wanted to test it for a few days and see if I want to make a nicer one out of S30V scrap. And I do! I'm really liking this thing silly though it may be....The prying edge is chisel ground like a screwdriver and it actually works really well and rides comfortably in my pocket.

I spent all morning trying to decide if I want to do a folding version but I just couldn't settle on a design that satisfied me. I seem to be going through one of periodic dissatisfaction phases. :D But if I do another I'm thinking tanto with a section of sharpened edge maybe in a kydex pocket sheath....anybody know where I can get a pocket clip for kydex?

Peter I like it - I could use one o' those right about now, and not to open a paint can... :D

Peter are you talking about a simple spring clip or one of those techlocks, I have both, if your interested email me.

Rene, if it's a spring clip how does it attach? That's certainly what I was thinking of, not a techlock. I want to just be able to clip it inside the pocket or in the waistband like a Wm Henry folder pouch.

Peter: You shouldn't of told anyone what it was. You could of put it into the ugly knife contest to beat the other Peter.

Well, I don't know about the ugliest knife but it certainly is the DULLEST! :p Yup, I've got that one totally sewn up.....:D

Not a chance George. I've made some really ugly stuff this year. I think I outdid mydelf with my Bamboo blade and my tie-dye micarta just makes me sick!:barf:

That is an awesome project! Nice work with the 'ole imagination.

By the way, I think we really ought to popularize the "ugly knife" idea to the public. Now I am just a little hobby maker, and at this year's rate I think my total knife output will be 5 or 6. But if we could make ugly knives, I could make 40 or 50 easy!

What is wrong with 60 grit finishes and "variable geometries" anyways? And who says that handle scales need to be, well, matching, or even remotely similar in size or shape? :)

Back to peter for a second: that must have been fun for a break from making knives. Has anyone asked you to make them one yet? You know, you could turn the butt of that tool into a screwdriver bit. If you could find another tool or 2 to stick onto that bad boy, I bet you could get a collab with some company to produce them. That would be a way cooler keyrigk tool than a SwissKey, or whatever they are called.

Karl, thanks! I'm glad someone else thinks it was worth making. My wife just can't understand why I'm wasting my time making little strange tools but I told her it's a guy thing, she wouldn't understand....:D

What else could I put on it that wouldn't involve moving parts? I already have the second screwdriver/ prybar idea going for the end of the tool, but what else could I get on there? I could stick some tweezers in the handle SAK style as I did on my AL Mar SERE. What else?

sharp part for boxes, led light for nocturnal brew opening :D a area for a paint chipper, all i can think of now.

Peter, you could always put a tapered slot in the center of the "blade" for tightening/loosening nuts/bolts. Would sure beat carrying two multi-tools for those times when you need something on the other end...

Pretty neat idea as it is. :)

bimjo, you are a genius! I was trying to think of how Peter could drill a 1/4" bolt sized hole for turning 1/4" bolts, but a tapered slot would be way cooler! A Kydex sheath would grab the slot nicely too...

Peter, I also thought that maybe you could put a wire stripping knotch somewhere on there, maybe on the side of that opener/chisel that doesn't touch the bottle cap.

If I can think of any more tools, I'll be sure to post 'em here. Keep up the awesome work Peter! And seriously, you may want to shop that around to the knife manufacturers. Did you read the article in Tac Knives about the Spyder Wrench? That was a great article, seeing the evolution of that tool. Go for it Peter.

Wow, thanks for all the neat ideas guys! I think there's a future for this thing after all. I fooled around with yet another model last night and came up with a neat little innovation.....

I screwed up this piece though. I was getting pretty tired after an extremely busy day and went to far drilling the first hole on the mini DMT stone....... What I was thinking though, was to notch the end of the chisel to act as a nail puller/wire stripper(thanks Karl :) ) and then actually put a small bend in it to make a real prybar out of it. The butt end on this one is elongated to become an additional prytool or screwdriver. I'm trying to think where I could put the slot for a wrench grip but this thing is only 1 inch wide at the handle so I don't know if I can get that one to work out or not.

I have received many suggestions on the direction that this could take and the features it could incorporate and I'll post them all tonight. Some pretty neat stuff. Thanks!
