custom knife shows

i never have been to one,and i was wondering what kind of knives you see there.are they all real high quality, expensive knives,or are there some lower end (100-200 dollar range) customs there too?
im saving (well im trying to) up my pennies for the little rock show, and im wondering how much im gonna need to get a decent knife.

Hi Mo,
You see the entire spectrum, in quality and price and sometimes they are not directly related.

Take time to learn as much as you can before you start spending hard earned dough.

Visit the makers sites and purveyors sites on the net, visit the ABS and Guild and check out their links for a good start.
Sometimes we manage to come up with some quality info on customs here too

Mo,

Here are some pics of a knife I recently purchased at the NY Custom Knife Show. It is handmade, and only cost $160.00

It also depends on the show. The NY custom knife show had a ton of great knives at very affordable prices. The East Coast custom knife show on the other hand did not have much under $400(If it did, I didn't see em

Mo, in your price range, you shoud probably look at nice fixed blades and stick to production folders. There are many great fixed blade makers in the sub-$200 range. Geno Denning and Allen Blade are 2 prime examples. Check out Les Robertson's site under the Hunters section. Lots of good sub$200 knives there. A knife show is a good place because you get to pick up the knife and examine the fit and finish yourself. The maker doesn't need a huge name in the business to turn out high qaulity stuff. Don't be afraid to take a peek as some of the new guys. Remember, even the big guys were no-names at one time.

Cheapest custom blade I ever bought was from Fred Perrin. It was a tiny neck knife for $25. It's really sharp and can cut.

Mo
Look me up at the show. I will be happy to take you around and show you or point out what I think are good buys. It also depends upon what you are looking for. You want to speculate a bit on a early riser collectable, do you want a user etc.
Like Jermey said when you are there you can feel it and see it three deminsional, that makes a difference.
And like Gus said, figure and ask questions. saves money thataway.
