Custom neck knives with style?

A friend of mine is looking to have a neck knife made for a lady friend, and I was wondering if anyone could recommend any makers who specialize in such things.

Any info would be most appreciated...thanks.

Most neck knives are skeletalized tang handles or black micarta/G10. I don't know how "fashionable" they are to one's taste. Madpoet makes I think an attractive exotic wood handle, persian neck D2 steel knife with a leather sheath. I don't know if concealability is of concern, but it doesn't look particular good for that because of thickness.

Ed Schott has a small utility CPM3V steel knife with a cool blue G10 handle. I asked him to downsize it, thin out and skeletalize the handle, and use a kydex sheath for neck carry. It may be faulty thinking but I asked him to use a light green G10 instead of the blue because I think it would show less through a light shirt than the blue and match my darker skin color better. His other choice was black g10.

Both makers can be found in the link pages. Both knives are just under a $100.

If you want a good thin, light concealable neck knife without the "looks", you can't go wrong with a REKAT. Get one of these quick since REKAT will not longer make them. It's about $50. Livesay is another maker offering inexpensive but good quality no nonsense neck knives (so I hear from the Livesay fans). They are about $20-$30.

Oh yeah... you can probably get a Perkins pocket knife and custom order a neck sheath. Perkins makes a distinct style that is fairly to very attractive, depending on taste.

You could always find a small, basic pattern that you like and have a custom maker give it a satin polish and ivory or pearl handles, perhaps even some file work. Then you'd have a one-of-a-kind.

Darrel Ralph makes a neck version of his "Krait" design which has style. Also check out Kevin Wilkins' Thorn series. As I remember he is going to make a few with some really nice Damascus.

Don't forget to pay your taxes...they eventually become my knives:)

Yeah,

I like Ricks idea -a nice pearl or ivory handle might be perfect for your lady friend.

Mike Franklins "claw" is neat.

But for myself i would have RJ Martin make a mini kozuka with a dragon fly menuke over bright green sami.

Well... I'm the friend MaxQ was talking about at the start of this topic, and I'd like to thank everyone so far for all of the leads.

I guess what I'm looking for is similar to what was featured in a blip in the March 1999 issue of "Blade" on pg. 105. The piece is made by Daniel Valois of Lehighton, PA. and is much more a piece of jewelry than a utility blade. In fact the small 2 1/2 inch blade is somewhat concealed in a Kydex sheath with rayskin overlay that's suspended from an onyx and silver necklace (there's also matching earrings of onyx and silver).

Overall, what I would like to find is more of this type of inconspicuous jewelry/necklace knife for the particular ladyfriend I am shopping for. Anybody have any leads? Thanks.

Heres the Krait neck knife that Les carries

Take a look!!!

I make some small knives that are (IMHO)elegant, and with the proper sheath would be excellent neck knives. I currently have stock with Pink Ivory, Mammoth Ivory, and Pearl handles. I haven't figured out how to post pictures here, so I'd ask you to take a peek at my website. You'll find them under the "Current Stock" and "Small Knives" links.

How about Bud Nealy's Mini-Max with an ivory micarta handle? Bud also makes the sheath in white...sharp looking knife. I got one for my wife and during the winter, she pins it inside her coat, and in the summer, pins it in her purse. There's also a black beaded chain so you can wear it around your neck. Small, light, and SHARP!

I think this makes a great neck knife for a lady. The price is right to. Only$55 as shown
