Can anyone tell me where I can find custom thumbstuds to replace the plain ones on Benchmade, William Henry, Gerber, etc?

Is this an easy swap out or something that shouldn't be attempted?

This topic seems more in-line with what the guys in Shop Talk would talk about. We're heading that way with it now.....

Interesting site and thanks very much for sending me there.

However, they only have one style of thumb bob as they call it and it's pretty much like the ones you find on all the production knives these days.

I'm looking for some something with a rubber insert to make it "stickier" on a combat folder, or a gemstone to accent an expensive folder, or possibly a flower or star design on it.

This seems like it would be a good side line for a smith.

Malcolm, give Sheffields a call at 1-904-775-6453 and ask for a catalog. They sell the thumbstuds with jewel inserts and also a titanium ball style, plain or annodized.

Always think of your fellow knife makers as partners in the search for the perfect blade, not as people trying to compete with you and your work!
