Hi everybody!!!!
Its been thousands of years since I posted but you can find me lurking around silently quite often. I thought this was just the sorta thing that goes great on Bladeforums, so I couldnt resist.
I was at a flea market this weekend and there was a booth that was selling surgical supplies, dentistry tools, dremel bits and other items you might use to interrogate people. I was picking up some sculpting tools when I came across a set of small diamond files. I thought they might be just right for doing filework on my good ol' knives so I bought em. Here is my first attempt. I call the design "Fingerprint":
(click for hi-res)

My SOG SEAL pup is my kick-around knife. I abused the crapola outta it and last time I used her I opened a can of Herculiner Truck Bed Liner and some of it was kinda permanently stuck to the blade. So I sanded it off with the finest grit in the hardware store. Then I took the files too it. It took nearly 4 Monty Python Flying Circus episodes to get it done (about 36 min each w/o commercials). Then I got some real fine sandpaper at the auto parts store and fine-tuned the finish a bit. Last going over it a few times with Flitz and it turned out real shiney. The paracord I did before because I didnt like the checkers on the handle much...it is pretty comfy.
Altogether I dont think I have the heart to abuse her anymore. I am pretty pleased with the way it turned out and I plan on doing more filework on some the other knives I dont mind risking to my own ineptitude.
Filework is fun stuff.
