Customizing a Sebenza

By freak luck I aquired two small sebenza. So I am thinking of having one slightly customized. Two things I'm looking to have done is replacing the non-locking scale with a carbon fiber scale. The other is changing the thumbstuds to a different design. Are these possible? Would the carbon fiber detract from the strength of the knife? Finally, do you have any pictures of sebenza's you worked on previously, for other ideas? Thanks

No pics of anything like you've requested because I've not done them. Carbon Fiber is as strong if not stronger than the titanium. Its not going to take away from it strength wise. It may lighten it a bit but not by much.

I have some CF in textured and some smooth.

On thumbstuds. I did come up with a different thumb stud once on a blade that someone sent me to take and make a liner lock body for. It had no stud in it at all when it arrived so I was left having to come up with something. I made one to fit it.

Looked like this here. It stuck out farther and was easier by far to get my thumb on than the original which I don't much care for at all.

I'm having a hard time seeing the thumbstud. Is it all metal or the ones with the tritium vials? Do you have a picture from the side so I can see how tall it is?

Please email a price to have the work done. I'm thinking of black carbon fiber would be an interesting look with a polished blade would be an interesting look. I might try to trade for a large sebbie but if I'm unsuccessful I want other options.

Those are old pics and I no longer have the knife. In fact the man that got it from me lost it so I do not have but those. Its a 3/16" diameter pivot barrel cut down to make a new stud.

I don't polish blades. Lots of time and buff wheels, different pastes or rouge and I don't mess with it. Too much time involved also. Thats one of the things I actually hate doing to be honest.

Carbon fiber isn't cheap. In fact its hard to find and when you do you usually have to sit down to get prices. Just a small sheet is surprisingly high even in .125" thickness. My price is for what I have here ready to use now. If you decide later to go with it and its a month from now the price will be different if I have had to reorder or need to just for a job. Just FYI the price changes each time I order the stuff and its not getting cheaper. Textured is not always available but I do happen to have some right now. Not much but probably enough for one side on a Sebenza.
