I just finished this hunter for a Houston Client, and sent it to Sandy for a sheath of his (Sandy's) design and choosing. I've done several of this style, and got the basic handle idea from the Brazil guys, and J. Fisk. This was my first D2 however, and was a challenge to hand finish (for me anyway).
OAL about 10"
Blade length about 5.5"
Steel - D2
Quenched in SS foil between aluminum plates
Handle material - Highly figured Mesquite
Guard - 416 SS
Pins - Nickel Silver
Spacers - Nickel Silver and red insulating material
Finish on blade - Hand finished to 800 grit
Finish on Mesquite - Tru-Oil Gun Stock Finish - Brownells
Thanks for looking!

Thanks IG! The spine profile is taken from one of my rockers (scaled down a bit that is). No Anchor chain in this one though, maybe the next!

That might just be the nicest handle I've seen here yet. I check out you custom makers' knives religiously, it's really good stuff, and this is no exception. The guard fits really well with the knife, too.

Did you do any buffing after the 800 grit, or is that just paper alone? I'm asking because I'll be starting my own project soon, and am wondering what to expect as far as finish up to 800 or 1000 grit.

Also, any other reccomendations for more locally available (ie, not online such as Brownell's) handle finishes (e.g. Home Depot)? Thanks a million.

I might have to get one of those handled knives someday...gorgeous!

PS: How much would one of those BBQ beauties go for, anyhow? For any of us craving one...
