D2 steel good????

Can anybody tell me if D2 steel is good for knives? If so why? can you compare it to ATS34?

D2 is a great steel!! Cuts like crazy, almost stainless, very high carbon. a great steel!

I have a couple of pieces of D2 I am saving until I have more experience making knives. D2 requires a more complex heat treatment than simple carbon steels, so I won't be able to heat treat it myself like I can 1095 (what I have used so far). I think D2 is a great knife steel from all I have read about it. Very tough and very hard.
