What is the technical term for the ridge thats left down the middle of a double ground blade like a dagger or sword?? Medial ridge sounds nice and techy but is there a proper term for it?? Thanks folks!

Always think of your fellow knife makers as partners in the search for the perfect blade, not as people trying to compete with you and your work!

If its a hollow, its called a fuller. If it is a positive ridge, its a spine. No "proper" name other than that that I can find in any nomanclature.

I find it interesting how "westerners" don't have many names for the parts of a blade, yet if you look at a Japanese blade, there are a gazillion names! A name for the style of the ebd of the tang, a name for the top guard shoulder, a different dame for the bottong guard shoulder, different names for different tip lengths that wouldn't get different names in the west, etc. I don't think either approach is better or worse, but I just wanted to say this 'cuz I think it is a neat cultural thing.
