Rather than start a new thread, I'm just re-titling this one. Don't have to copy and paste all these picture url's that way. ;)

Going to turn this into a WIP?? ;):D

Well, I wasn't planning on it, but it looks like I've got a good start on a WIP. ;)

How did you get your twists to work out so straight ?

Not sure what you're asking here. If you mean keeping them even, just make sure the entire piece is good and hot.

I know that takes a lot of time. Did'nt mean to put you on the spot.:) But, we sure do expect a few pics along the way!!:thumbup:

Got a plan? Leaf blade, big bowie/fighter, a dozen hunters?

Just curious.....................

i like where this is going...and is it just me, or is anyone else out there in BF land always interested in what other peoples work spaces look like...anyone?...anyone?...Bueller?

You are one talented man. I can not wait to see more!!!

And I thought I twisted up a billet good and tight, I feel humbled.
That's an incredible looking finished billet.
Please do show us the finished knife, knives from it please.

Again, nice looking piece of steel.

Would you post a picture of the twisting rig you use? Or do you just use a vise and a big wrench? Is that even possible?

Hope you get to feeling better.

Thanks, fellers, for the comments! I just hope all the welds are good...

You can see the tool I use in a number of the pictures. It's an orange handled adjustable wrench with an additional handle welded to the business end. I clamp one end in the vise, and twist from the other end with the wrench. I do have a twisting jig which is used for specialized twisting. I'll try to take a picture of it today.

I am feeling better, thanks. :)

I'll probably make a fighter, with enough left over for a hunter or two.

I've decided to go ahead and make this a full blown WIP thread, as reflected in the new title. I'm still not quite feeling up to par, so haven't done any heavy work, but here's a few more pics:

The billet after sitting around for a few days:

I'm soaking it in acid for a while to loosen the scale. Then I'll grind most of the cracks from the twisting off. That way I'll know that I won't be forging them into the blade, and risk ruining everything....
