Hi All,

I'm in the process of possibly trading for my first custom folder, an Adre DeVilliers ADVocate in damascus.

My question is, how good is damascus for an EDC hard use knife? Specifically any info on DeVilliers Damascus would be cool but any thoughts would help.

Thanks!

Chad

BTW, while I'm at it, if you have any thoughts on this knife in general I'd love to hear them.

See it here - http://www.knifeart.com/adprot.html

Sorry I can't comment on damasteel for a "hard-use" knife, but for mundane cutting chores it performs very well. I have two made by Jens Anso that have seen a lot of everyday use, and a few strokes on my ceramic sticks brings them back to razor sharp. And simple cleaning and drying have kept them stain-free.

Damascus can be anything you want, depending on the mixture of alloys and the heat treat. Care would be pretty much the same as any carbon steel blade.
