Wow, nice. I love the contrast on the damascus.

Nick

Thanks Nick!!

Every batch of damascus is a little different and you dont always get that jet black/silver contrast.

I work hard on my damascus prior to etching, its real important that I get a smoking etch with crisp grindlines and most importantly free of any machine marks or belt striations.

I was very fortunate to become good friend with Mike Norris and he always stressed to me that the closer you take his steel to mirror polish prior to etching, the greater the finished product.

I actually mirror polish my damascus before etching, grind all the way to about 2000 grit on the belt sander and then a quick pass on the buffer with white compound, I hope the prep work shows in the finished blade.

Thanks

Beautiful!!!
