Damascus What Models?

Due to a lull in materials Bob Brothers has fired up the forge and trip hammer and is pounding out Damascus. So here is the $60,000 question what models in Damascus? Sorry we can’t show a picture it doesn’t come out well in pictures but Walter Birdsong and we have figured out a BlackT Damascus which looks like ebony wood, wild stuff any intrest there?

I believe there must be a certain number of people like to pay a reasonable premium for Damascus bladed knives. Black T Damascus sounds interesting. However, without the color differences, the etched 3-D pattern becomes an even more important factor of it's attractiveness.

I currently own two Damascus Hobit Warrior. One with a REKAT "eye" logo and a thicker rubber handle, the other without any logo and with a thinner handle.
Can you tell me why they are different?
How many of each made?
Any related stories to share?

Please provide answers for my questions, and also, provide more information about the new "Damascus REKAT".

Thanks and Best Regards,
Ted

Thats easy; CARNIVORE! Hey, if there is a lull in materials, does that mean the Bladeforums knives got put on hold?

The two Damascus Hobbit Warriors you have were hand made by two different makers with a design change thrown in for good measure. We are still deciding what to make and do with the damascus.

The idea of a D2 Sifu really gets me jumpin' - the increased toughness and edgeholding should allow a "finer" edge that'll last longer plus have greater "prybar" strength, good points in a fighter. I want one bad, and will retire ol' #1 as a daily carry in favor of such (though I'll never sell it).

But...a pattern-welded? It'd be pretty, but I'm not sure I want a "streetfighter" with an enormous number of hairline cracks through it. I mean, no offense, but that's really what we're talking about. Sure, if it's done exactly right, they can work well but...I want something I can trust 100%.

No, to me pattern welding is a cosmetic improvement and in a Sifu, it's like putting a fancy paint job on a tank

. Why?

I don't think anybody buys a REKAT for cosmetics. That's not a gripe

Hi All!

I've yet to buy a REKAT, but I've considered the Pocket Hobbit and the Hobbit Warrior for a long time now. If one of these happened to show up in damascus, there would be no way that I could resist buying it. I'd love to hear if either of these models were made damascus.

Thanks
Dave

Echo the above comments - Carnivore first, followed by Sifu then Gijan Warrior, Pocket Hobbit, and Hobbit warrior.

Of course, a limited run of Damascus Fangs and UNK's would be appreciated as well... hint hint hint!
