First reaction from the other half when she walks in this evening:rolleyes:
Always snickered and thought "That will never happen to me" when reading these posts.
Man was I wrong!
Cut the tip of my ring finger on my right hand 3/8" up the finger nail with the Band saw..just missed the bone.
Turned around and cut my Left index finger at the first joint (Damn Convex Grinds) all the way across DEEP! Still bleeding when she got home:D
Not a good way to end the day...
Few more Turse words later she says... Ok wash up ...
NO!
I Don't care how much it hurts use the germicidal soap...Lets get the Bandaids and Neosporin so you stop bleeding all over the place:D
Now go clean up your trail of blood.
Knife making
Gotta love it!

ahhahahahaha Robert, that's a funny read!

Steve

PS that's why God made superglue.

Now you are knifemaking. Its impossible to be creative without getting your blood flowing. Keep up the good work.

First time in day when you miss bone, you're supposed to be happy you did miss it, and immediatelly go take break, and do something NOT involving sharp objects. you are NOT supposed to go back and try for bone again on a second finger. ;)

Just kidding of course, glad it wasn't anything worse when I saw that topic, worried a bit.

I am now banished from the shop this evening anyway:D
Time to take more aspirin...now I get to work on a sheath.
Luckily I already cut it out last nightL:D

Still got a nice scar on the back of my hand, from when I was trying to cut a piece of bronze off a round bar with a bandsaw. The round bar rolled, and my hand rolled right into the blade. Luckily for me, I have superior catlike reflexes(ok, so the blade was dull too), or I'd be missing part of my hand.

I thought there was suppose to be a little of the maker's blood in each knife. Isn't that what gives the kife it's spirit?

OK I've been watching way too many horror movies.:D

wow this sounds like (SHOP TIPS ) to me .

if so I have one .
Never sneeze in a full face shield :barf:
And A old one ==Never -never stir slag tub before taking a drink :(:D
sorry you cut your fingers that will hurt for a long time .
Ron

Glad your well enough to joke about it! Amazing how quickly steel goes thru flesh eh?!

Amazing how fast a band saw cuts thru a fingernail and flesh after it slips off a piece of Titanium.
Takes far less pressure to cut the latter!

They say that at least the wood bandsaw is the woodtool most likely to cause an injury that requires a hospital visit. Opinions vary as to whether this is because the tool is so safe people push their luck, or maybe the geometry is actualy pretty dangerous...

I've been in the mechanical arts my entire life. I saw a guy hit his thumb with a hammer so hard once, it sprayed a red mist about 5 feet across the room. Its pretty safe to say he got bone on that one.

My father, also a machinist (ret), always said that you need to be afraid of any machine because they simply aren't afraid of you. He's gone 55 years as a machinist and retired with both eyes and all 20 fingers and toes. Its probably bad luck to talk about it. I think I will stop. >>>shiver<<<

Glad to hear you are okay, Blink.

Ron, don't forget one of the most important shop tips. NEVER grind a blade while naked. :D

Dan,

I remember you cutting your hand on the round bar but I don't remeber the cat like reflexes!:D :p :) :footinmou
