Can anyone give me a value of a Dan-D Fighter. 6" blade,11.25" oerall with micarta handle and brass guard and but. White spacer and thong hole. Leather sheath with brass snap and eagle with three stars stamped into it. I'm also looking for information about the maker.

I think the makers name is Dan Denehey (sp??)
He is/was from Arizona.

I dont know much else, I will look in Knives '99 and see if he is in the knifemaker directory, if no one else answers your questions to a fuller extent.

Dan's knives are made to be very hard working knives. Not as pretty as some that are made today, but a great tool.

In addition to knives, he makes, Tomahawks and throwing knives. He usually conducts a seminar on throwing at the Blade Show.

His mark is Dan-D, city, state and a Shamrock.

His Special Forces Fighter is one of my favorites.

His son John, makes most of his sheaths. He is also a knife maker as well.

Hope this helps.

I thought I was wrong once, but I was mistaken.

I spoke to Dan last week. He is recovering from a 5 way heart bypass surgery that he had done in February. I am sure that he would love to hear from you at the number Les has posted above. Dan's last public apperance for Knife throwing was last year at the 4th annual American Knife Throwers Alliance national championships in South Carolina. I took over the throwing seminars at the Blade show in 1996. He said that if he continues to heal with no problems he may come to S.C. next year.
