Just wondered the experiences you guys have had with his knives. Specially curious about the severence.

I just received the second knife [ kerambit ] from Dave yesterday.

I'm not familiar with the severance knife personally.

I can tell you that Dave is easy to work with, and the exection of the two karambits re: fit and finish was very good/excellent.

I really like the way he makes the g-10 look grey. Never seen it before but I and others who have seen the first one are impressed.

Hello Brownie:

Your results are heartening. I just ordered a kerambit from David. My dealings with him so far have been top-notch; his questions re my preferences for the piece display his concern for his customers.

Out of curiosity, what steels did you pick?

Best regards.

I ordered both Karambits in s30v.

The grind lines, overall execution, fit and finish are very nice.

I am really impressed with his ability to make the g-10 look "grey" and show black marbeling throuhgout.

I think you will be very happy. Both came in at 3/16" thick at the spine. Gives one confidence it can be used hard and put up wet if need be.

I shapened mine [ more a tweak than anything wrong with the edge ]when I got it. It was sharp, but I seem to always touch the stones to the new ones till I'm satisfied it's scary.

Only two knives didn't need sharpening to my tastes NIB. That was a MOD Trident and the MT Socom.

Edited to add: There was another I need not touch when new, thats the MT UMS, which I am in the process of testing at this time. It also came sharp enough for my tastes from the factory.

DMKnives..lets see...

David makes some damn good blades. The quality, fit, form is OUTSTANDING! This is why I chose David to make my knife designs for me.

This is my Ceya's Rogue he made for me.

His turnaround time is pretty quick IMHO. Hopefully when he super famous I can get him to make me some more.LOL.

I cannot stress his work.

as for ATS34 to S30V. I like ATS34 steel. S30V is new to me by way of David. My latest design the SHIRO is made from S30V steel. Will test it more when I recieve it.

hmmm, so you can deviate from the basic designs quite a bit. Very nice indeed. How did you do those drawings by the way? A program or have you taken architecture classes? Mind if I ask how much the knives cost?

I have 2 knives by David, the Instigator 2 folder and one of his newer recurve fighters.
Both have excellent fit and finish, and the liner lock on the folder is super solid. I'm very impressed with both knives. They look and work great. His knives are an incredible bargain, and he is great to deal with.

Keninshiro (Asia & Aussie Forum) did the CAD version that is how it got its name and he did some little changes also.

all my drawings are free hand.

I just received my Kerambit, and it far exceeds expectations. David has done a fantastic job on this piece. Excellent fit and finish, great balance and hand-fit, fine geometry of the grind lines, and wonderful edge. Let's see, what superlatives haven't I yet used?

As I posted before, it is a pleasure to deal with this maker. Now I can say that from the perspective of "from start to finish."

General spec: S30V double hollow-ground blade, unsharpened swedge, plain/polished G10 handles (looks like CF!), cross-draw kydex sheath.

I knew you would be happy, he does great work.

I had him make two kydex rigs, the original RH 45 degree reverse grip and the RH crossdraw [ which can then be drawn reverse grip left handed if need be ]

Congrats
