I shot these at Darrel's today. He has been running a number of these talonite EDC's, large and small. Ironically, a small older talonite EDC made it's way into the shop!
Correction. The rainbowed small knife is a small Apogee

Enjoy!!

Ahhh, those pics bring back memories. Back in 2000, Darrel invited my up to his place, where I got to work on my own double-action EDC. Great guy, great knife, and a great experience. Here's what I said back then:

I had the pleasure of flying up to Darrel's shop in Ohio to spend a long weekend (along with Dexter Ewing, as well as Kevin Pensinger from The Edge Equipment) helping to create this double-action EDC. This has a 3.5" 420V blade with a hand-rubbed finish (that took a whole freakin' day to apply!) I did all of the anodizing and heat coloring of the clip and screws, texturing of the screw heads and handles, and the "nugget" work in the design grooves. I jeweled the inside of the titanium handles. I drilled holes. I screwed up. I fixed my screw-ups - with Darrel's help, of course. I put the knife together. I took the knife apart. I put the knife together. I took the knife apart. I put the knife together... Well, you get the idea. All-in-all it was a fantastic trip. It was great meeting Kevin finally. Darrel and his family were great hosts. It was fun to have a hand in making a knife like this as well. Hope y'all like it.

And the knife...

I believe the anodized titanium handled knives posted above are called his Apogee model.

Ya know, now that you mention it, that could be so. I will double check when DDR returns from NYC. I don't recall apogees with that scale pattern, but then again, Darrel has made a lot of knives!

Thanks! Dan

Yep, that one is definately an Apogee (In fact the one pictured was mine until about 2 weeks ago! Also, the smaller EDC is mine as I sent it in for some adjustments- I'm glad to see it made it!). You can't really see in the pic, but the clip on the apogee is marked #5, I believe only 5 talonite small apogee's were made so it's definately not something you see everyday.

I corrected my original post to reflect the Apogee. It is beautiful. I wish I had been able to score it. It is exceptional.

That man can just make some kick'n knives! I have one on order. Very nice work!

UPDATE:

The second I saw these I staked a claim to one. Yeah, I am actually carrying this knife.

Another collector bought the remainder of the run, 3 or 4 large EDC's and 2 or 3 of the small ones. My blade has a unique marking and I believe mine is the only one with jeweled liners. These are awesome knives. The ergonomics are outstanding and the flat ground recurve makes for a real cuttin' SOB.

This shot shows the CF a bit better.
