Now that I've decided to have Santa bring me a Sebenza for Christmas, I have another question:
I've noticed many people on this board have ordered their knives directly from Chris Reeve, rather than through online or bricks and mortar retailers. I'd like to know people's reasons for making that decision, since apparently there's a significant waiting period if you order direct.
Are people ordering directly because they can't find the specific knife they want at another retailer? Do they want to give Reeve the whole profit, rather than making him divide the pie with a dealer? Are there questions of authenticity when buying through a dealer?
I'm probably going to buy a no-frills large Sebenza (though the wood inlaid version is undeniably handsome), and would like to know if there's some reason I should deny myself the instant gratification of ordering from a dealer. Thoughts?
