(breaks into a sweat) How come that Siru's still there? Don't you guys know that I'm supposed to keep my money for stuff I NEEEEEEEEEEDDD?!

D'ya think the wife will understand that I NEED another knife? Nope, didn't think so either.

That's a very nice sirupati, the horn has real charactor.

The 15" Ang Khola would make a great starter kukri for someone.

Thanks. I don't have any larger choppers yet.. my stick knife is heavier, but shorter, so this gives me some weight and reach for those larger chopping challenges. It is a pretty knife, too, that handle really appeals to me.

and that "little" siru - whoa hoo :) nice. fast. grey! long! should be good for swatting flies and cutting down some bamboo :>

That Ang Khola looks great to me- but I'm new to these. Email sent if its still available.

Skyler (or anyone who cares to comment), why do you say that one is a perfect starter?

Yangdu, if the emails aren't working again, you can email me at suzrider@adelphia.net Thanks, Mike

Also, what is "YBB"?

you can contact yangdu at himimp@aol.com

as for the 15" ak being a good starter... imho it is a great khuk all around (not just a starter)

because AKs are sturdy and bullet proof and wow, once you like that, you can't help but go nice, and buy more, and expand... plus at that size/price, you can't go far wrong.

YBB - yandu's best bargain (hard to google for it seems :>)

what it MEANS is buy lots of khukris :)

15" Ang Kholas (or AK) are great starter kukris because they are what I consider to be the bare minimum for showing what a kukri can really do, that is chop. While the bigger models can chop better (in most cases) then the 15" ak, the AK is light and compact enough to enable you to carry it for hours on end without having to pull your pants back up. The 15" AK is also shows a beginner how a kukri will handle, without having to deal with the extra weight (I personally think that people shouldn't start off to big, since they are not yet used to how a kukri handles).

You will have to email Yangdu directly at HimImp@aol.com with which knife you want, form of payment, full name and shipping address. She is so busy that she does not have the time to check all posts, so emailing her directly will insure that you get what you want. If she does not have this specific one anymore, then you may wish to ask her if she has another one like it or a blem that she has in stock.

YBB stands for Yangdu's Best Buy.

Best of luck sharking future deals of the day (DOTD) and welcome to the forum.

--Edit : Well it looks like two others beat me to it...

Also the 15" ak is not the best starter, it's great, however if you can get a 15 -16" Ganga Ram Special I personally would go with that (a 16" ganga ram was my first HI kukri meant for chopping, it's still going strong). Some people also like 16.5" WWII and British Army Service (BAS) for good compact choppers.

Thank you all for the helpful replies. After reading some of the stuff on Yangdu's FAQs I have a little better idea of what's what. I think I like the WWII- it looks easier to use. That AK with the gray horn just "called to me" though- the first Khukuri that has. Thanks again for the help!
