Delica versus the Endura ???????

I have a "Delica" which I LOVE but I am longing badly (physical pain) for an "Endura" real bad. Is it TOO big to carry comfortably?

In "Georgia" it may be illegal with a 3.75" blade length? Also any knife for "offense or defense" is illegal. Some cities/counties have a 3" inch law?

I feel the Endura is a better fighting knife. I could always lie and say its a work/utility knife officer? I have a CCW permit.

Errrrrrrr.........

I can carry a pistol concealed legally but carrying a knife concealed is asking to much.
What a bunch of horse@#$%!

Harikari,

The Endura is just right. It's not too big for daily carry. It also has a slim profile. I'm not sure, but the blade is around close to 4" in length. Basically an enlarged version of the Delica.

As for the Endura being the better fighting knife, I guess it depends on what technique you plan to use with it.

i like the endura a lot more. the delica is too small, my hand feels crowded on it. that being said, i really don't like the endura. that's near blasphemy here, but i said it. i would seriously consider other models, but if you like the endura, by all means get it. the handle is the right size, but to me just not the right shape.

The Enduras blade length is cataloged at 3.75". It is light for sure but if carried clipped to the front pocket some may find it a bit uncomfortable if wearing slacks/ jeans on the tight side especially when sitting and moving about on a regular basis. I prefer the larger blade over the Delica but that really depends on what your need and uses are for.

Harikari: I don't know anyone more sensitive than me to carry comfort. If I can feel the knife at all -- even sitting or bending over -- it drives me crazy.

I second what nakano said about the endura being uncomfortable for front-pocket carry. However, I normally carry by clipping the knife on my waistband at my right kidney (right next to the Lee or Levis patch on the beltline). The endura is the biggest knife I can carry there and still be comfortable -- the handle is just under the length where it starts to dig into me when I sit, and it's so thin and lightweight, it just disappears.

So ...

delica: comfy for any type of carry
endura: comfortable for waistband-at-kidney carry

Harikari, I cannot speak to the legal ramifications, but I can to the matter of comfort. I am rather overweight and I carry in my right front pocket. I have carried Delicas, Enduras, Terzuola C15 & C19s, Native, Military, StarMate, and Carnivour. The only one that I notice as being too large in carry is the Carnivour and that is a matter of thickness rather than length. OTH, the thicker hilt gives a better grip. Interestingly, I have smallish hands and I do not find the Military to be too large. It is a very nice size.

To sum up, I think that thickness and weight are more of a concern for carrying than length, so I would go for the Endura. Of course, if you can afford one, go for a StarMate, they are perfection in a folder.

I love both the Delica and Endura. If pressed, I'll say I carry and use my Delica more. It's very comfortable to carry and use. In fully-serrated version, it could potentially be very dangerous.

The new Endura '98's blade is longer than the original. It is 3 7/8" long, and I think the new Delica is 3 1/4".

I've owned 3 Enduras, all good and pocket carry has never been a problem.

I also own a Delica II the all steel version, a bit robust. I got it for legal reasons.

Both are good but the Endura spoiled me. I'd like one in CPM 440V or I could wait for that smaller Military.

Get the Endura, you'll like the extra length and ergonomics.

I haven't handled the endura but I want one. As for the size being uncomfortable in a front pocket, you should consider putting it i a back pocket. Thats how I always carry my delica. It makes the tip up carry more convenient to open than in the front pocket. You should try carrying your delica that way for a while and if you like it then get the endura. I'm a redneck and only wear jeans so I always have a back pocket, I guess that could be a problem for different kinds of clothes.

Fix it right the first time, use Baling Wire !

I always worry about it working its way out in my back pocket, and also about it possibly bending while I'm sitting. Have you tried the in-waistband-at-right-kidney carry I mentioned, Matt? Give it a try! The knife is more secure there (I feel), and totally comfortable.

The only time you gotta watch out is when you sit down on the toilet. As you pull your shirt out, if you're not careful it could hook the knife and pull it out. It's second nature with me now to be careful of that!

I carry my Endura all the time. I don't recall it every being a problem. Of course now it rides in the bottom of my pocket because I broke the clip. It took some getting use to, but it rides fine there also.

Back in '91, I used to carry my Endura in the back pocket... Then I went to Concord, NH for LFI classes, and Mas Ayoob (who also carried one at the time) recomended that I change it to the front pocket, due to the possibility of it working its way out... Sure enough, it happened to me a couple of times, and I was sold on the idea.

BTW, I still have that old model, Zytel-clip Endura - my wife carries it now
