i got my delta z osprey today and it's one HELL of a knife! fit and finish are superb and i love the recurve tantoish profile. now i'm about to take it apart as i do with all my knives, but damn! whats with this pivot pin? a search of the forums revealed that there's some special tool for removing it. does anyone know where i might find one and what its called?

The tool is actually just a simple little piece of aluminum, you can adjust or remove the pivot using a pair of needlenose pliers very easily. I prefer this method to using the tool that came with it actually, you just have to be careful not to use too much pressure.

thanks, i was about to do the same thing with a pair of torx drivers, but i decided that i didnt want to risk scratching the finish on the knife. have you had any problems with the pliers slipping and scratching the knife?

I've had no problems as long as I keep the tips of the pliers firmly seated in the holes. They're pretty deep so I've had no issues.

i love the recurve tantoish profile.

I just got a Damascus one...very sexy profile. Mine came with the tool, seems like yours should of also.

Along the same lines as needle nose pliers is the spanner wrench - if you can find one!

i got it used off another forums member and i guess he must have lost the tool and neglected to tell me of it.
