I have one of these on its way with all the molle webbing on it and was wondering if anyone has any experiance with them at all. I like all the molle attachment options it has, and am hoping it will be rugged. This will be used alot this summer on overnighters and daypacking, as well as alot of shed hunting as soon as the snow melts.

That is some price tag. Ouch.

I hope the pack is the cat's pajamas 'cause, yeah.

I thought my bag was spendy.

Give us a full review when it comes in.

I have one. I got mine on a close out price when they were clearing out the OD green. Its a pretty big pack. Not gynormous but a lot bigger than your typical three day pack. I like the external pockets but I think I could actually do with out the molle. It's well built and will probably hold up to whatever you're going to use it for.

Here you go!

Mine is coming in ACU hopefully this will last alot of years and I wont have to buy another. If this one does not work out I will try maxpedition next.

I have several packs that I use for different trips and my favorite for day hiking is a Badlands Hybrid.

It was a little spendy (around $200) but the comfort, durability, features and insane warranty make it worth the price. Sometimes it's worth spending a little more to get exactly what you want.

I run badlands while hunting and you are right they are very nice. This new pack will be carried in the truck day to day and through the summer on all my short trips

Diamondback makes some pretty high speed gear that's made to be abused. I've never used one of their packs but if it's anything like their pouches and other stuff you won't have to worry about wearing it out. It looks like a great pack, once you get it make sure you take a bunch of pics and do a review for us!

I dont think the two have anything in common other then color, or at least I hope not. Had I known I could of gotten the same thing $300 cheaper I would of went that route. Usually you get what you pay for. I will let everyone know at the end of the summer when mine has plenty of miles on it.

What differences do you see?

Check out the specs very and read the post about it. They look very similar except the LA Police gear pack has hip straps that are optional cost in the other one. The guy that bought it raves about it.

There is a really big difference between lapolicegear and diamondback tactical in build quality! That pack design is bounced around between many pack companies since it's a great set up. For most people the lapolicegear pack would be more than enough. You really do get a lot more in quality out of some place like diamondback.

Ouch! That hurts. That bag doesn't appear to me to be the same as the DBT SOF. The SOF is much bigger for one. That bag looked more like the size of a three day pack. It makes you wonder what materials it is made from. Certainly not the same as the DBT. Like mentioned above, the quality of materials and workmanship will show through.

It's kinda like telling the guy he should have bought the home depot folding box knife instead of the ESEE folder.

If anyone is going to learn from post you need to point out the differences not just say "There is a really big difference" or there is a quality difference.

What are the specific differences and do those differences really make a difference for the pack's intended use?

A pack can be made out of Kevlar or steel but are either needed for the pack's intended use?

SOF
20.5” H x 13.75” W x 10.25” D

LA
19" tall X 13" wide X 12" thick at bottom and 9" at the top

If the above dimensions are 'much' different then you are correct.

The OP just bought the bag. He can send it back if he wants.

Got no experience with DBT. At that price I'd expect some excellent quality out of the bag. I hope they deliver. You mentioned going with Maxped if this fails you. You might want to try Kifaru. I've run some Maxped stuff. All I can say is every bag purchase I have made, from them, has disapointed me. I check the cubes and the inches and try to get a good idea of what the bag will and won't do. However, the bag always seems to shrink a half a size between the internet and my doorstep, and whaddaya know, that thing that I need to pack won't fit! Also, not the most comfy to carry. On the other hand, their pouches rock.

Anywho, hope the DBT bag rocks hard. I'd be curious for a review myself.

God bless,
Adam

For the sake of this post I will pick up one of the cheap packs and let my nephew run it through the summer and I will work the SOF pack and post a review on them. For the money the SOF had better be alot better. I have a hard time thinking a $30 pack and a $340 pack are even in any way. The materials, zippers, construction in general had better be alot higher end in the SOF pack. As I said I will pick up one of the cheap packs also and let everyone know what I think and point out any short comings in either pack. It is easy to rave about a pack if it gets filled up then sits as apposed to getting used. Till then I cant wait until my sof pack gets here.

I'd just like to say I was not slamming you, your choice or the pack. As with any tool, it should be matched to the job. And the LA pack might be a lower priced alternative - if it suites the job. I was impressed by the the LA pack from the description of it on the Glocktalk forum.

Could you tell us the weight of the two packs? I would be interested in that.
