hello shootist16, the leaf lock is a partial liner like the socom and the military that is recessed into the handle and a liner lock is a handle with a full liner, like the afck. For me, i like the leaf lock better, it can be made thicker yet more sleek than the full liner lock.
One thing about the leaf lock is that it would probably be easier to replace if done right v. a liner lock needing the entire side redone. Possibly, if you wore out the leaf on a Socom, you could send it in and get just the leaf replaced?
I have been making leaf lock integral knives for seven years now. I love um . The leaf can be replaces and retuned if it ever goes bad.
Also it alows for a integral type designed knife. They are stronger than a build stack type knife..
I have recently started to use the integral frame bar lock like on the apogee knife. I like it very much . I also have a way of making them last fo a life time ...

Well, Darrel beat me to posting about the leaf locks I saw on his site http://www.infinet.com/~browzer/lock.jpg that I believe he is using on the Carbon Fiber Apogee. I am expecting my Large Apogee from Darrel any day now, the lines look terrific and the lock style is unsurpassed.
