different police models

which model of the police has a easier action? I just bought a SS police, but might return it if the G-10 has a smoother opening.

The easiest action Police is no longer made. They were either SS or aluminum handles with a titanium coating on both blade and handle. The black version was smooth but the gold version was like oiled glass. Should have bought one but the look was just too flashy for me. I've not tried the current production models, but the older aluminum handled and titanium handled models were plenty smooth.

The SS is smoother, the G10 has a nice grip but it was a little slower in deployment and it gives the impression that the blade is real thin. G2 is also a bit sharper than ATS 55 in my experience.

The S.S. ones smooth in after a while but the g/10 has a flat ground blade that I like as well as an adjustment screw to set the pivot tension as well. You guys covered the rest. Oh both have ATS 55 blades currently.

I would just figure that if they can make a knife like the endura lightweight have a action that is almost linerlock smooth, then why not the police?

Hi Mschwoeb. The Police Model is an old design. With current trends and legal restrictions, knives over 4" in blade length maybe of limited future. If we were to make an FRN Police model, the design would have to be updated.

I was just showing my police to a friend. He thought that it was a very well made knife, perfect length and overall handling for tac use, but needed to have a better grip for pivoting the knife into different positions. I would also enjoy the benifit in weight that you would get from a FRN handle

In my experience, it takes a bit of time to "break in" the stainless Spydies. But my oh my, what a pleasant task to perform. My ss Police is now as smooth as glass, but when I first got it the action was a little heavy.

update on my police- action is now smooth after about two weeks. Still would be interested in a updated police, maybe a police lightweight.

Looks like I spoke too soon. The action seems to change almost day to day. right now my finger is sore from the force needed to open it. Does it ever just settle in nice and easy?
