Do you obsessively buy multiples of favorite knives?

Does anyone else have the obsessive habit of buying multiples or all the variations of their favorite knife models? I don't know if it's the idea of having a backup or that I just like certain models so much that one won't do but...

Benchmade AFCK: plain axis, ps axis, plain linerlock, searching for mini

Benchmade ARES: plain and ps

Microtech UDT/LUDT: One of each of the sizes and generations (looking for a double for 2001 LUDT)

Sebenza: Reg.Lg., Classic Lg., Classic Sm., (will get Reg.Sm. soon)

Spyderco hawk bills: 2 Civilians, Matriarch, Spyderhawk, Harpy, Merlin (still looking for PE models)

SOG Autoclip: Lg.plain, Lg.serrated, (I lost my plain small.)

It's odd that if someone were to go through my collection it would look like I had a lot of knives, but I have a lot of doubles. Maybe I'm an obsessive compulsive or maybe, after collecting for so long it's easier to focus on some favorites.

yes for me also. it seems I can't get to many of the knives I really like.

I've just recently started doing this. I tell myself that a favorite may be discontinued. So far only three. There will be more to come, I'm sure . . . :p

An example of a future duplicate will be the Manix. I'll buy another one as soon as Spyderco specs them with a beefier pivot and PB washers.

Yes...At one time I had 4 of the Benchmade 805 TSEK...Now I'm down to only two of 'em.

I have 3 benchmade 705's.

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday....hmmm...gotta go check the For sale/trade forums. :D

I buy multiples sometimes. Whenever I come across that close to perfect knife (for me, anyway) I'll get one another or two. Just because some of the favorites have been discontinued on me or 'the' knife is made with a variation that improves it.

I have four AFCK's, two Chinooks, three(down to two now) Starmates, four Natives, two Benchmade Panthers, two Spyderco Crickets, two REKAT Carnivours, two Microtech SOCOM's, two CS SRK's, two CS Master Hunters, three ex lg. CS Voagers(in different flavors), two SOG Autoclips, two CS ex lg. Twistmasters and several others I cannot remember and am too lazy to dig out right now.

I assume this answers yuor Q? :D :p  :o I am pathetic...[walks away shaking head]

Cannot believe I forgot to add that I have two 710's too. One in ATS-34 and the other in M-2.

No multiples yet, but I'm probably gonna buy a couple more 710s exactly like the one I have.

It's been known to happen. Like at one point I ws up to five Benchmade 941s. I'm down to only two now CF/D2 and Ti/S30V:). Then there's the spare Socom Elite to back up my EDC model. Or are you referring to the M/A version of the Pro-Tech Harkins ATAK with the CF inlays that I just won on th eUSN that perfectly matches the D/A version of the same knife I bought a few weeks ago at Blade Expo.

Nah, I never do that.

John

I'll buy the same knife if it's offered in both plain and serrated blades. Of course this would depend on the amount of cash I have on hand. Somehow I manage to find the extra cash for my favorites. Yes I'm addicted to knifes!

Yes...I like to have back-ups in case something happens to the primary knife.
Especially when the fear of discontinuance of a particular model occurs.

I'm up to 14 Benchmade Ares'.

Four Sebbies.

I can't really afford to have multiples. I have thought about buying a second Military just 'cause I like it so much, but I don't know if I'll ever do it.

No, never.

(But on occasion I have cleverly bought duplicates because the first might be stolen by terrorists AND A METEOR MIGHT HIT THE FACTORY!!! )

I don't have multiples! I collect knives and watches but never felt the urge to buy multiples. However if one of my knives will break, get lost or whatever I will replace that model! Only had to replace some throwers until now.

regards.

man o man, I have. Being in the business and seeing some of my favorites over the years get discontinued here and there, I have bought 2 of many knives. Paul
