Do you take off the clip?

I don't usually, but:

I just got an Almite Navigator and boy is it kewl... But we all know that already, so I'll get to the point. I had to take the clip off so that I could give the handle a little squeeze in a vice to fix a slight blade play problem, and now the funny thing is that I am in no hurry to put it back on! I actually find is easier to carry and manipulate this little gem of a knife minus the clip.

Actually two of mine serve me well minus their clips. The almite Michael Walker and the CF Dragonfly each fit nicely in my jeans watchpocket and are slimmer in that role sans clip.

Most of the time I remove the clip.
Just the way it feels,I guess.
Also, I just don't trust clips like the deep of my pocket.

Do I remove clips? Does the Sun rise every morning?

Hardly at all on the folders... But I remove the TEKLOCK from my MOrans to rig it up as neck knife from time to time...

I took the clip off my Calypso Jr. I didn't like the feel of it and I prefer the tip-up carry with a clip anyhoo.

Bite Yore Tongue!!

The clip, IMO, is the best thing to happen to knives, since someone figured out how to make them fold...

I agree, the clip of a Clipit is essential. But I have not handled an Almite Navigator (the original knife in the question) so I can't say that it's not better or more comfortable without the clip. I'm sure it's more slim, but that's academic. I think that removing the clip *has to be* sacrilegious in some way.

Okay then... I like the clip carry on all of my other folders except the Almite Navigator. The trouble with it is that it seems to be way more difficult to extract the knife from my front pocket when carried with the clip. With my Calypso Jr. (micarta), I can simply grab the hole, draw and snap it open in a smooth motion. However, the Navigator seems to get jammed or snagged in there somehow. I carried it for a couple of days with the clip, and found that every time I went to take it out I had to wiggle or fuss with it in some way.

I believe that the complex handle shape, coupled with the machined slots cause this knife to grip the pocket material more than models with smoother and more rounded handle shapes. (i.e. most other Spydercos.)

I agree with Mundele, the clip is the best thing to happen to folding knives. Matter of fact, thats one of the features I look at before I buy a knife.

I've found that many if not most knives feel better in my hand without the clip, but clips are so handy that I'd be reluctant to buy a knife that didn't have one.

I don't take off the thumb studs either. (esp. w/Spydies)
