I carry mine as a secondary or last resort self defense weapon. I carry my Cold Steel Kobun or my Recon Tanto as my primary defense weapon. Just like to know everyones opinion on this matter.

I carry mine for every day tasks and rely on a firearm for primary defense.........;)

Hey, no "guns to a knife fight" allowed ;).

Because bali's are illegal to carry where I am, it's always the last resort. My daily folders are usually mid-sized (2-3" blade), so they don't make good primary weapons.

If it came to that, it would be first. I hope to never have to use it for any more than just a toy and tool.

Depends... if I'm actively defending myself against a severe case of boredom, it would be first. Or against hunger (it works well for spreading peanut butter :D )

Otherwise, I grab the nearest midget and start swinging.

In all seriousness, though, I use common sense and gut feeling first. After that, I use whatever's handy. Barstool, broken bottle, or knife, if I have one. My daily carry, I regret to say, is not my '42, but either an emerson CQC-7, or my old EDI Genesis. The legality issues aren't nearly so fine-line, and I'm less worried about accidentally flipping em out of my hand. Sweaty palms and a smooth bali handle don't always work out well for me.

If worst comes to worst, I can pull out my leatherman wave and threaten to yank out their nose hair, but I try to just get the hell outta there if I can.

Actually, with the thumb studs I put on the wave tool making it easier to open the blades one-handed, it can serve as a makeshift double edged weapon with both blades out, and makes a good fist-load for a punch too, but again, if I can avoid the situation, I do.

Sure I like to carry mine, but my hands and feet are my first line of defense. So I guess you could say that it would be my secondary defense weapon, but I must say, if it goes THAT far I seriously doubt I will be in defense mode! I hope my people skills prevent that from ever happening.;)

By order of preference:

(1) ~~> Begging for mercy

(2) ~~> Running/Escaping (preferred mode - Suzuki GSX 1100)

(3) ~~> Shooting (2-in-the-torso, 1-in-the head)

(4) ~~> Stabbing/Slashing/Punching/Kicking/Biting/Stomping, etc.

(5) ~~> Having script prepared and rehearsed for explaning the use
of 3 & 4 (see above).

Note to User:

#5 is equal in importance to all others combined these days! :(

Just remember, ONLY when confronted with deadly force, may you use deadly force in self defense. "He punched me so I stabbed/shot him", does not go over to well with a jury, especially if the weapon used is illegal to possess or carry.
