Dodo: two versions, or was mine defective?

My first dodo's spine on the blade looked stamped out and did not have the same finish as the spacer in the handle. I just got another, and it has grooves on the back of the blade and the same texture as the spacer. Was this changed, or was my first dodo "unfinished?"

I'm not sure what you mean by grooves but both of mine have the same texture as the spacer in the middle.

On the spine of the blade, on the section just ahead of the thumb hole towards the tip, there are little grooves like you would expect for grip if you put your thumb on top of the blade. Like what the Jester has, but further forward.

The edge bevel on this blade also looks like it was ground excessively. The grind looks like factory sharpening, but it goes further back than my first knife. I bought it used, so maybe the previous owner had it re-sharpened by Spyderco once.

Neither one of mine has what you described. They look like a million bucks, but I'm having problems with the lock mechanism.
