Does anybody out there use a knife they can't replace?

How many of you guys carry and use knives you can't replace? (either because it's too expensive to get another, they are no longer made, or it is one of a kind)

I've had knives that I just couldn't bear to use because they were rare, so I sold them off. I'm just wondering how many of you guys carry and use something a little on the rare side.

I'll use a rare knife, but I won't loan it out. I've got a Buck Master Series hunting knife with BG-42 alloy blade that is out of production. I'll take it with me hunting without qualms, but I won't loan it to my son when he goes hunting.

I use a Kit Carson F-4 damascus neck knife. There were only 33 made so I doubt I could replace it.

I carry and use my Tom Mayo TNT all the time. Tom is no longer accepting orders, not that I could afford another one if he did. So I guess that makes it a pretty hard knife to replace. Doesn't bother me though, I bought it to use, and that's what I plan on doing. That doesn't mean I am careless though, so I can't really see losing or breaking it.

I carry and use a true custom slipjoint - made for me, to my specs, by Don Morrow.
Even has my initials on one of the blades and Don's file work is art.

Yes, I carry a Benchmade 31-02 (number 13 of 50) and if I lost it or it was taken away I would be devistated. I love that knife!

Well, technically my Rinaldi Enigma can't be exactly replaced, as this was the one that was featured in the American handgunner article, but I use it anyway.

I carry my VOSS dagger sometimes. So far I beleive it to be one of a kind. Didnt even have an edge at first.

Hey AntDog, you always have some interesting topics posting. :D Well I will have to agree that if I happen to have a knife that I cannot really use it because it's too rare/expensive, I'd probably sell it as well because to me I can only truly enjoy the ownership of a knife if I can use it worry-free (doesn't mean abusively, though). So, I am just wondering if I can say that I am "lucky" enough to say "no" for the answer of your question? :D

I carry an abalone celluloid trapper by Camillus in 1095. While not very expensive I doubt I could easily find another just like it. I also use an old Wegner that was my Grandpa's. I have only seen one like it, that a buddy had been given by HIS Grandpa. And a Spyderco Ayoob, not too hard to find right now, but in another five years it might be.

I have a Brend custom folder that I carry on rare occasion. The price and the fact that he no longer makes folders makes it kinda hard to replace. It's a great knife though, and I hate to have it sit on a shelf... maybe I should start carrying it more???

oh yes, i carry my emerson collectors P-Tac all the time, and occasionally rotate my MT SOCOM elite w/a brend grind blade, my darrel ralph mini maxx w/CF handles and talonite blade #3,& my crawford perfigo and kasper ti folder, all pretty expensive/hard to find knives, its what makes life fun for me, lol. if ya have 'em, ya might as well use them. of course my old spyderco delica SE does all the utility work, the others are for looks/SD only.

My EDC is a Ken Onion Blur Prototype. There are none others like this one!!:D

Yes I do. I carry and use, not abuse, a custom small Apogee Millennium model that helped support BFC, truly one of a kind. I also carry a Ken Onion Whisper and a Proto Lynxx, now called Trakker.

Knives are replaceable. Okay, Maybe you'll never have another knife exactly like that one, but you can get something similiar. Any custom is pretty much unique, and yet it can be replaced. I use a green Speedtech as part of my EDC rotation, and I have no regrets. If I really wanted to replace it, I might get a CS Scimitar. Some of you may think this is insulting, but the blade shapes are close.
