Does your Azwelke pancake sheath rattle?

I got a custom BK9 pancake style kydex sheath from Azwelke, I notice a slight rattle and I'm not sure if this is a normal amount of.noise of not. I've had the chance to try the taco style and there was absolutely no rattle whatsoever, I've already spoken to Al and he agreed to replace it but I don't want to waste his time. Does anyone have one to compare with me? Do you have any rattle?

I see no reason to worry about a little rattle.
Does it hold your knife securely.
If so use it.
Otherwise how is it.

There are other slight imperfections which I do not mind in the slightest seeing as its a custom piece , I actually enjoy the character it adds. The only reason I replaced the stock sheath is I can't stand sheath rattle, and seeing as its almost the price of the knife to buy a custom sheath, I want zero play in the sheath.

I have a pancake stlye BK9 sheath from another maker. It has a slight rattle as well. I think it has more to do with the blade length, weight, etc. than the quality of the sheath. It's just a big heavy blade and is going to move around a little when you shake it.

No rattle on the taco sheath, same knife. And I don't mean any knocks to Al either, I've already spoken to him and overall I'm happy with our transactions.

I was talking about pancake style sheaths. Sounds like he took care of you. That's good.

Oh I see now, I should have read closer. That's basically what I'm trying to figure out S I don't want to waste his time and money. He's got great customer service, anybody else want to chime in?

You may have caught the knife on something and stretched out a portion of the sheath. May not have been much, may not have even noticed it, but it could very well happen. Have you tried re-shaping it somewhat? Take a hair dryer to it, then put it inbetween a couple of towels between some boards and stand on it. Might fix the problem for ya.

I just received today, never been carried. Does a hair dryer do it or do I need a head gun? And won't it flaten if I heat it and stand on it?

I would think it's an issue to be worked out between you and Azwelke, and he apparently already agreed to make good on the product. thats customer service at it's finest.

Its not easy to make sheaths in a material like kydex on a MODEL knife then send it off to go on ANOTHER knife. coated, uncoated, sanded heavily, different manufacturers....all can make it hard to have a 100% exact fit every time.

Any kydex with loosen and rattle over time. Heating it up works. My simple solution is to cut a very small piece off of one of these, flatten it out, and slide it in the base of the sheath. Works 80% of the time, everytime ;)

Send it back let him fix it to your liking, that way you are both happy with the results. I had a sheath made by another maker and I didn`t like the fit and didn`t send it back right away ,now I would feel stupid sending it back and I have funny feelings about the maker so I screwed the pooch on that deal don`t do what I did, send it back now so he can make it what you want.

Is your knife stripped? My stripped BK14 rattles in the stock sheath, my coated 14 has zero rattle in the same sheath.

That's a good point. I've noticed ESEE sheaths rattle pretty bad if you strip the blade.

There is a balance between having no space between the knife and sheath (no rattle but it will see sheath wear if you get any dust in it) and having space( reduces sheath wear due to dust but may cause a rattle to be heard) not seeing and hearing your sheath I would recommend that if you take AL up on the replacement you send him your knife and ask him not to use tape to give absolute minimum tolerances.
