Few if any would argue that Don Fogg is one of the elite bladesmiths.
Available to you today is a full size bowie from this uniquely talented ABS Mastersmith.
This knife features a 9 ½ blade of forged 1095 with an overall length of 14 ½. The blade displays a striking contrasting finish: there is a flawlesslly executed hand-rubbed satin finish set off against a forge texture on the flats. This latter aspect is forged in using texturing dies under a hydraulic press. It is a distinctive aesthetic element which Don describes as containing the memory of the fire.
The fittings are fire-blued steel with nickel silver spacers. The pommel in particular shows a range of colours including blue, bronze and copper.
The octagonal handle is of carded African Wenge wood. Wenge is an African hardwood that is extremely dense. It is sometimes employed in the making of boken wooden swords because of its toughness. The carded texture is both attractive and functional as it assists in providing a secure grip. All aspects of the construction of this knife speak to its intended use for heavy-duty chopping and cutting.
The condition of the knife is mint exactly as received directly from Don. It comes with an attractive dark brown leather sheath by the maker.
Dons bowies appear VERY infrequently on the secondary market. The price for this one is $1,400 shipped anywhere in North America. The first e-mail that says Ill take it gets it. E-mails will be answered morning and evening. If youd like any questions answered during the day, send me a PM here on the forums.
Regards,
Roger
