I just doubled the size of my folder collection with this Folding Dagger from Don Hanson. ;) :D

A few of you may remember helping me choose this mammoth ivory from Don’s stash at the Blade Show. We had been planning this one for a while and worked out the final details at the Show.

Don’s always such a pleasure to work with and along with a knife you always get an education. There’s quite a few pieces to this type folder and everything including the eleven 18K gold screws were made by Don.
The pivot screws are of course steel and heat bronzed.

We set out to make this a special piece as it marks the last of an era for this particular style folder for Don. You will notice the inside of the back frame is fileworked 18K gold and all liners are fileworked and anodized. Don’s mosaic damascus never seizes to amaze me. I call the bolster’s damascus “scary things” and the blade is Don’s accordion pattern. Thanks for looking and let me know what you think.

Here are the spects:
OAL - 9 1/8”
BL - 4 3/8”
Handle Material – Premium North Sea Mammoth Ivory.
Blade Steel – Damascus of 1084/15n20
Bolster Steel – 1084/4600E pure nickel
Hardware - Screws, release, back frame 18k gold.

Thanks Coop for the beautiful photos.

that's so cool:thumbup:

Kevin,

I can easily understand your being attracted to such a knife,
even if it is a folder....

Two folders! Is this a conversion point?

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

Wow, that came out nice. I'm sure you don't remember me, but I was standing at Don's table while you were picking it out. Congrats to you and Don.

Kevin,

It looks great. It has it all. The mammoth is outstanding. I've been waiting for you to post the photo of the knife.

Well Kevin, I am sure you can guess what I think. Outstanding. That knife is pretty big too!

I like the heat colored spring as a final touch.

I heard that Don Hanson (aka The Dude) raised the animal that he harvested the "Premium North Sea Mammoth Ivory" from ! :D

 , Kevin.

OUTSTANDING!
I bet it's scary expensive. :)

:D Well in "scary" I was referring to the goblins in the mosaic damascus bolsters, but now you mention it, paying was a little "scary".

Also notice Don's initials also in the damascus.

Wow, that came out nice. I'm sure you don't remember me, but I was standing at Don's table while you were picking it out. Congrats to you and Don.

Hi Mike. Don had a lot of beautiful ivory for me to choose from. About a couple dozen pieces if I remember correctly. The color in these scales got me and it seemed everyone also loved them.

Jon, I thought you would like it.
Hi Jim. I may bring it to Jerry's so you can get a closer look.

Thanks everyone for the kind words.

kevin....when are you gonna get a sheath from paul long and start carrying it?.....looks great.....i wish i had gone on don's list years ago when i found out about him.....i wouldhave loved to have gotten some knives form him....ryan

Kevin, thanks Man, it was a pleasure working with you.

I see Coop pulled out the stops on this one. Great photography!!!

Thanks for the good words, folks. I appreciate it.

WOW, what else can one say? Great Score, Congrats Kevin, and Coop the pictures are not bad either.:D

Awesome; I'm really getting into daggers and this one is certainly a beauty.

Question: this is an auto? I don't see a thumb-bob, so it must be either an auto (leaf or coil?) or "pluckable".
