A while back I told Don that I needed some of his mosaic damascus to keep in my pocket and look at when bored at work. Actually I don't remember what I told him, but that was what I had in mind. I requested some of his mosaic damascus for a key chain.

This week Don surprised me with these two peices of steel. Note, that they are rough examples and this is an experiment. We may work on a few more one day with a more refined shape and precise finish.

Don polished both sides of the one I attached to my keys. The other was left rough on the underside to show what this stuff looks like in that form. I will snap another pic of that soon.

Anyhow, how cool is this? I love these little things. Big thanks again to Don for this one.

Those are awesome!

Some years ago, Ray Kirk sent me a couple of keychain tools from his damascus like the one pictured below (from his website).

I can't tell you how many times it has come in handy as a screwdriver, mini prybar etc.

Beautiful mosaic, Don!

These are better pictures of the rough one. First picture is the polished side, followed by the underside.

Jon, some people would call it 'Art' ;) Scary ye?

Actually that was supposed to be an alien head with a jelly fish like body.
But the can split open in the forge and some of the powder ran out.
I went ahead and finished and thought it was kind of cool.

Glad you like em Jon, will make a few more later.

Thanks, Guys!

Self portrait? :p:D

I think that is Don getting up in the morning after a long day in the shop? ;)

Great use of some great damascus. You can't always pull a knife out at work, but this should do. Good idea, Jonathan.

Really like the finished on one side/raw on the other idea. Great way to have a bit of the passion with you all of the time (especially in states like NJ where it's illegal to carry anything).

Don, cool stuff, as always!

Jon, you continue to amaze me!

Great idea!

I asked my 7 yr. old, he says one of the faces looks like a "nightmare". (i thought he might say a pokemon, or some such character)
