Although I haven't given the knife a thorough test, I must say that it is an outstanding knife for my purposes. Very sharp, as all Doziers, very small and slender. It behaves like a scapel. I tried it on some small trout and though it's not a fillet knife the thing zips through them with almost no effort. The vertical sheath is excellent for this size knife and comfortable for me. I am new to D2 so am being very careful on cleaning (my hands don't have a high level of acid). I am very pleased. It is exactly what I wanted in a small game knife. What a bargain.

Thanks for the info. Doziers are the best, and the Canoe is now definately on my list of must-have knives.

BTW, what handle material did you get?

I got the standard black micarta. The knife is much smaller than I gathered from the photo in AG's catalog. It took about 13 weeks, but well worth it. I'll post a photo or send a jpeg if anyone's interested. Someone with large hands might find it too small, but it suits me perfectly. Also, unlike other users, I found the vertical sheath (small enough to use as a neck sheath) very easy to use, maybe because of the small size of this particular knife. OAL 6 7/8", blade 3", depth of blade 5/8", depth of handle 5/8", thickness of handle 3/8", as I said very petite.

Thanks for the brief review. I recently saw a description on this knife and it said that the false edge was partially sharpened. Is that so? What is the purpose for this feature?
Thanks!

There is no false edge on this knife. The spine is 1/8" thick. It has a very thin hollow grind. I ordered my knife direct from Dozier.

JB, I just got my Dozier Canoe knife last week! It is my new everyday carry, and I LOVE this knife. It's a well made "small" knife, and you can't beat the price! I think I'm going to order one for me dad:D The next on my list is the Dozier Whittler! Oh yeah, it took you 13 weeks to get yours-I got mine in 5 days! A.G.Russell has them in stock, so start ordering guys!!!

I had a chance to sneak out of work today and go squirrel hunting with my Dad. We both managed to get a nice limit of squirrels and I used my Dozier Canoe Knife to skin, dress, and prepare for the freezer all 12 squirrels. If you've had any experience with squirrels you know that they are one tough little critter with strong hide, tough fibrous muscles and strong bones. After preparing the squirrels I carefully checked the little Dozier for sharpness by shaving a swath of hair on my arm. No need to touch this little razor up! The hairs simply popped off when the edge touched them with about zero pressure. Of course I'm not surprised, my Dozier Straight Personal did nearly one hundred of the little buggers last year and was still sharp! Truely amazing knives!

looks like I"m going to have to get me one of those canoes to keep my straight personal company.:D
