More here. http://www.k-c-c.com/specials/kkb01/r.html
Here some impressions that I posted on the other forum. Though I have had the knife longer my opinions have not really changed.
------------------------------------------------------------------
I got mine yesterday and I have mixed feelings. Heres why:
On a scale of 1 to 10 I give ergonomics a 7 or 8. This is a smaller knife, 3" blade. I have a feeling the Dozier Dagger at 4 1/2" blade works a lot better. Of coarse, it is way more money.
I have Dozier small drop point folding hunter (DPF) and it is my favorite folding knife, period. It is much better in ergonomics. The blade shape makes for a more acute cutting angle which means easier cutting. Back to ergonomics, the throw or radius of the thumb stud travel is greater on the Thorn than the DPF. The DPF has a lanyard hole and it has full spacer both of which the Thorn does not. Now the Thorn has a pocket clip. The clip is for tip down, which I prefer. I would of prefered it set for deeper carry but its not bad on that account. Sadly the DPF does not. I may ask Bob to put one on it. I am not sure if his new version DPFs have clips or not.
The Tab lock seems good. The nested liner falls on the left of the tang. I am not sure of the advantages of this over a linerlock which I suppose it still is. The blade is thicker than the DPF's. Its thicker probably than need be so not an advantage.
I would probably be happier with this knife if I did not keep comparing it to the DPF. The DPF will out cut any thing I have seen. D2 takes a keen edge very easily and it retains it. Rusting is no more a problem than with ATS-34.
I will add more impressions at a later time, if I keep this knife.
