Few weeks ago I have received my first custom fix blade: a Dozier pro skinner. It was choosen after a long and detailed search on the net and I have to admit that I am glad decided to order it. I have seen pics on AGRussellknives.com but decided to order it directly from Bob Dozier. My order was taken by Linda Dozier who is a patient angel. She brought my attention to the fact that Bob slightly altered the blade grind compared to that shown in the AGRussel catalog. The newer version has smaller swedge and is definitely better suited for skinning. The older one is also a beautiful knife, IMO it has a more "tactical" type of blade grind.
The knife was shavingly sharp out of the box, the grind was quite uniform, the handle is very comfortable and the whole knife looks/feels smaller and lighter than it is actually. For outdoor carry and use this is very important, I think. The horizontal kydex sheet is light and tight, my only complaint is the "reversed" way of the belt suspension. I know, this is intented to prevent the self stabbing during falls, but I just dont feel it secure enough from loosing the knife.
Anyway I am very pleased with both the knife and the service. If you are looking for a dependable outdoor knife and have only limited amount to spend, consider saving some for any of Bob's knives - it is well worth!
You will have a REAL knife, it will PERFORM and it LOOKS VERY NICE also with these clear functional lines. I have seen many posts on BFC praising these knives for their functionality and ergonomics but I think most of them are also beautiful to look at.
Thanks Bob, Thanks Linda.

Agree wholeheartardily with you littleknife. I have two of Bob's folders and an Agent fixed blade. I am well pleased with what I got. Linda is certaintly an angel in disguise. She was very patient with me and even volunteered to pick the folding dagger I have from a group of three or four Bob took to the NY Show. Must say she is a good picker! Hope you enjoy the Dozier!

Awesome choice, littleknife! Bob's knives are great... THE best value in tough, working knives! Congrats!

I think the blade is 1/8" thick. This evening I will measure it, if it is thicker (3/16") I will post again.

Is it a little big for EDC? I really like the looks of this model. I am looking for a fixed balde for EDC.

I have 5 of Bob's fixed blades and the T1 folder. There are no better working knives that I have experienced! I call them Dozier sharp! I first encountered Bob's knives in the 70's in Sid Latham's book "Knives and Knifemakers". At that time bob was making collector blades. I was not able to obtain one. This year, I saw Bob's Master Skinner in the Russel catalog with maple burl handle, the blade profile was like the custom in the book. Ordered knife and could not believe the cuuting ablity. Subsequently ordered a set, all in maple burl including a custom 9" carving knife. Bob flat ground the blade and everyone who uses the knife is in awe. The T1 folder is my daily carry around the house and in the field. It puts Dozier sharpness in a nice compact design with a pocket clip for easy carry. I have not obtained a Fowler blade for my use but have Sigman's, a Loveless and many others for comparison in mant types of steels. None cuts like Dozier D2! I only wish Bob would make me one custom knife finished like he made them in the 70's. - Dick
