Okay, to see the knife, you need to copy the URL I have below and put it in the address bar of your browser to see it. Geocities doesn't allow links to pics anymore.

The knife is about 6" OAL with around a 2.5" blade. It is 1/8" 1084 with a convex grind and a bit of a swedge. First swedge I've done. I wish I had a digital camera, but best I can do is a drawing. I'm mainly interested in comments on the shape. I started it out as a cross between a shrunken Wegner blade and a Sean Perkins handle, but the blade ended up looking like a Weehawk, IMO. I call it a Snoopy knife because the blade looks like Snoopy! The choil is his ears, the hump on top his eyes/brow, and the blade itself his nose! Anyway, I decked it out with a curvy G-10 handle and black Micarta pins and I really like the feel of it overall. Ever see anything like this?

It wouldn't let me in to see it,no matter what I tried.

Thanks, Gus. Interested parties may look at drawings, but mostly real pics, of some of my stuff at:

http://www.geocities.com/chiro75911/pictures.html

Again, you may need to copy and paste. Not sure if link works. All of my best and latest stuff is on plain film and needs to be scanned (try finiding a Mac-compatible scanner with USB for a decent price. Sheesh!). My earliest/crappiest stuff is displayed in all its glory! Some decent pieces, too. Encouragement for these dudes who think their first pieces are garbage...it could be worse, and if you don't think so, just check out that link!

Steve, I like that knife, very stylistic! Maybe I should say "futuristic." I'm sure curious how the micarta pins and G10 look, that sounds like a great combination.

Dave

I did something similar a few months back with G10 except I used hidden pins.

What I did was to thread the tang for 10-32 screws. I did this in four places on the tang. I then cut screws leaving no less than 3 threads exposed. I drilled the holes for the screws in the G10 but did not drill all the way through, just enough to clear the screws. I "wallowed out" the holes somewhat on the sides of the hole, inside, with a small ball-shaped cutting bit on my Dremel. I used Shafting Epoxy from Golfsmith to attach the scales. Finished as usual, no exposed pins, but strong bond.

The black Micarta pins are 1/8" in diameter and on black G-10 you can't tell they're there at all. Nice combo. They look good on lots of handle materials, either to blend in with the material like I did or for contrast (I like the way they look on blue G-10, too, for example). The knife, in person, is not futuristic looking at all in my opinion. With the roughly finished choil, stray file marks, etched temper line, etc, it looks like an old knife, with the exception of the handle scales.

A few weeks ago, somebody posted that all you need to do with the GeoCities links is to add a question mark at the end. When I see such a link now, I just click on it, then while it is telling me I can't get in, I add the question mark, then hit enter. So far, I've gotten in every time I've used that. :)

Steve,

I like that design!

Hey, If you want to make a quick road trip (about 50 minutes South of you), I've got a nice digital camera you can use to photograph your stuff. I've also got a "semi-pro" digital photo studio a little further away in Indiana. Hit me off forum if interested.

White Knight, thanks for the offer, but actually my wife has access to a digital camera through her job. She just doesn't see how important it is for me to get pics up, so she always "forgets" to bring it home.
If I need better photos, though, I will be sure to hook up with you!
