Anyone have one? Do they work good? Been thinking of getting one just wanted to know what anyone else's expierence has been.
Thanks
Leonard

I got one for Christmas. Probably saved as much money in drill bits as the thing cost in the first month. I'd highly recommend it if yer looking at one.

Which model to get? I've been debating getting one of these things too. Is it really necessary to spring for the more expensive one?

I have one of these gadgets. Neat little device. Saved me a ton of money so far. Don't expect it to handle really small bits though. If you drill metal as much as I do, it will pay for itself within one year.

Cheers.

You can't beat it for the price and performance compared to other drill sharpening systems.

Will they save really screwed up bits? I have a machine shop equipment dealer near buy that sells bits for about $2.00 a pound and I have goten some great bits. There are some that are really chewed up that I have wanted to grab with no way to sharpend them to the correct angle.

Leonard, I have the middle of line model that sharpens 118 and 135 degrees as well as splitting the point. The lowest model only does 118 degrees with no split and the top model sharpens larger bits. Keep an eye out in MSC and Enco catalogues as the middle model comes down as low as $109. Well worth the money!

Dt_Trainer, the Drill Doctor will resharpen the face of a drill no matter how dull or chipped but like all shapeners they can't to anything about damage to the flutes or loss of diameter due to wear.

I have the $80 model, and it can sharpen bits from 3/32 to 1/2 inch. Before I got it, I tried to sharpen a bit on my own and ended up grinding the end off and throwing it away. After getting the Drill Doctor, I got the old bit out of the trash and fixed it. I'm still using that bit.

They are great machines, I also have the middle model and am very happy with it. They will regrind a bunch off the end if you need to! Like another post said, they do go on sale every so often!

Don't buy the elcheapo kind like I did. I bought one on Ebay that went real cheap and after I got it I understood why. It was absolute garbage. I sent it back asap.

Looks like The Doc moves to the top of my list. I've got $150 worth of dull bits. I can sharpen them by hand, but they never are quite the same again.
Thanks alot
Leonard
