Dropped knife is now tight - Help

I have a Benchmade 943. I used to be able to hold the axis lock and flick it open and closed. I was opening it a couple of days ago to cut something in the kitchen, and hit it on the stove while I was flicking it open. This caused me to drop it. When i picked it up from the floor, I noticed that the action was tight.

The blade still looks centered, and I don't see any obvious bends on the frame.
What do you think happened? Is there anything that you recommend that I try to restore my knife's nice, loose action?

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,
P

Check the front edges of the handle for nicks.

Thanks for the reply. There are no nicks that I can see where the blade would be rubbing. It seems like the joint got somehow compressed. One of the friction washers on the inside (forgot what they are called) turns with the blade when I move it. The other one stays put.

maybe you should loosen the pivot a little bit and then try to slowly snug it up to see if that helps relieve some pressure.

Are you one of those that leaves the pivot tension a bit lose where there is a bit of lateral blade play?

If so or if not and it was lose and you didn't know it one of the washers could have dislodged a bit and wedged itself between the pivot barrel and the side of the scale by somehow knocking the pivot partially to one side.

What I'm saying is if the pivot barrel was physically forced from one side to move slightly sideways it could have pinched one side washer making your action tight. An easy way to find out is to stick a torx wrench in one side of the pivot and push. If it doesn't move try the other side. If it gives and moves a bit then try your action.

Thanks everyone for the responses.

There was no lateral blade play before I dropped the knife. There isn't any now, after I dropped my knife. I will try the torx wrench test today when I get home to see if that does the job.
