Hello,
new to the forum but already khukuritis-infected I found this khuk on the German e-bay site.

http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=909243652

(hope it works, I did not enclose a web-address in a post before...)
Currently its at 13.00 (=12.50US$).
I am not shure if this is an old khuk or just a tourist-knife.
You are the experts - do you have any idea of origin, age and a price-limit I should set?

Thanks in advance

Andreas

P.S.
found another (I think quite old) nice khukuri and a gun-powder-horn that is the same style there.

One cannot see the whole blade, but the small part of the blade that can be seen looks really fine (unfortunately it is at 99€ (ca. 95 US$) - so I cannot afford to buy it at the moment) - just for your pleasure - and maybe one of you guys will get it. If you have problems with the German description just ask, I will do my best.

Pan the first one could be either a very good knife or a Newari piece of junk. The problem is that almost all if not all of the Newari crafted knives have this sort of engraving.
But every once in a while a good knife can be done the same way.
If it were me I would leave it alone unless I had the money to spare for a nice looking wall hanging.

The second one is also anyone's guess because of the inlay work on the handle.
It is typical of many India made tourists knive's.:(
But on the other hand it could be a nice Kothimora with a realy nice looking powder horn.
It's hard to tell without any closeup pics of the blade. Sorry.

But I'm sure some with more knowledge than me will come along with their opinion's.:)

Thanks a lot Yvsa,
maybe someone can find out something about the interesting looking second Khukuri (although its very hard to see because of the partially sheathed blade)
- According to your advice I will not spend my money on these items but will save it to buy some new HI khuks sooner or later :)

Greetings from Bavaria
Andreas

It may sound like sour grapes and although I seldom go to ebay I'm generally afraid of what I see there.

The first one seems to be cheap junk AFAICT.

And better get an HI Khukuri for the price of the second one... ;)
