Looking to spend around 80$ for a good bag that will last. It will mostly get used for heavy ammo and a few pistols and knives in it at all times. toated around 4-5 times a month???

Thx, Ian

May I suggest a backpack from Maxpedition like the Falcon II. They also have many other backpacks and bags if that one is not to your liking. Maxpedition is excellent quality and built to last.

Camelbak Mother load if you take out bladder a laptop will fit in there to and be protected.

If you want tacticool, maxpedition is the way to go. However, it screams "gun!" to any cop in the vicinity. Dakine is general purpose, so it's more subtle.

check the countycomm maratac XL BOB, a great sturdy multi-purpose bag for like $40.

I've been using the heck out of my Maxpedition Jumbo. Love it, it's just the right size for dragging from home to the car to work and school. It has room for everything I lug around, and room for expansion. That said:

heavy ammo and a few pistols

Get a backpack, not a shoulder bag.

I absolutely agree. With a full size book and a water bottle or two in addition to my regular loadout of notebooks, a spare knife, flashlights, and paperbacks, etc., a single-shoulder strap gets downright uncomfortable.

If you're going to be carrying it for any length of time, get a backpack. Maxpedition should still have what you need for about the same price :D

For those who do like shoulder bags, consider this. The County Comm BOBs -- which I like -- have a thing strap with a small pad. Not much support, and serious wight over the long term can physically damage your shoulder.

But true messenger bags or the Maxpedition Gearslingers have broader shoulder straps designed to cushion for the extra weight. A small improvement, but btter than nothing.

Still, the symmetry and doubled loadbearing padding of a backpack will tame loads over fifty pounds, which a shoulder strap just isn't made to handle.

I've got a couple of County Comm's BOB also. They've held up and I would definitely recommend them. They have a new larger version out now actually.
