Cutting the heck out of your hand with your freshly sharpened Spyderco Ronin: BAD!!!

-John

PS - I'll elaborate in a day of two when typing is less scary...

Congrats on your EdgePro! I'm looking forward to all the "It came out so sharp that . . . " stories!

I received my Edge Pro Apex on the 23rd, a day before my birthday (gotta love it when B-Day gifts arrive a bit early!) I have sharpened 3 knive son it now. It takes a bit of getting used to for doing curves and points. But man oh man, are the edges on my 3 knives great. They were fast to put on, and a "decent" edge pro job so far, for me, has been better than any hand sharpenign job I could do. I can't wait until I am a pro like you Gabe :)

Gabe:

I just took some. I'll email 'em to ya' if you want. And I'm NOT selling it!!! This thing RULZ!!! Wait 'til you see what it did to my hand!!!

Panella:

"It came out so sharp that..." ...I was able to cut a free hanging hair taken from my wife's head. I cut the same hair several times and as it got shorter I got more impressed with the sharpness of my blade and got a little too close on that last slash...I didn't feel a thing!

I did EVERYTHING wrong. I was BEGGING to get cut, and I did. I am SO pissed off at myself for doing something so stupid. I am always Mr. 'Safety First'...

We all need a little reality check now and again...could'a been A LOT worse!!!

Just a scratch...
If it was a "good" cut typing would'nt be scary. You'd just be using 1 hand :D

Keep an eye on your coarse hone. That's the one that will "cup" first & need to be "flattened" most often. Convex edges can sneak up on you if you don't check the hones prior to each sharpening.
Larger knives or really tough re-profiling jobs may need to have the coarse hone checked as you progress through the work.

John Jensen now sells the EdgePro products. I ordered a couple of coarse stones from him with my Spyderco Natives.

Blastjv,

Hoping you'll heal fast. BTW, tried sharpening with just various grits of sharpening film stuck to the EdgePro's blade blank. Worked great.
