Here is another first for this mod. This is one that came back to me. I used to own this and sold it to a friend from down under. I guess he sold it or traded it after that because this one arrived from South Africa for this mod to be done.

I included the description of the folder from World Knives web site where I originally bought the folder. No mistake this is the same one I had because I had old scans of it and the pics of the wood and grain and all the patterning in the wood are identical so unless they make their own wood this is the folder I had once that I got new. Small world.

Anyway, I've taken some measurements. 2.1 ounces 4.25" handle and 2 and 7/8" blade. The blade on this knife is .059 thickness. For those that don't know thats just .009" thicker than many pocket clips are and about like a good paring knife for comparison. As a result of this thin blade its an excellent slicer. The folder is even nicer now since I've added some convenient user friendly features. At least I think so. Here is the add and link for the folder below in bold and the link if you haven't seen it. I've also added a few new scans showing the new thumb stud, and low rider clip for right hand tip up carry as well as the spine shot showing this very thin lockback folder. If you are looking for a light weight thin lockback of some good steel here is the ticket for about $45 US> Thanks for looking.

"This knife features a handle made from a solid piece of Masur Birch . Using a new, patented technique EKA compresses the wood to double density and then stabilizes the wood. This makes for an incredibly strong, light and warm handle.

The blade is Sandvik 12C27 Swedish stainless steel and is razor sharp. The steel is hardened to RC 58-59 on the Rockwell scale. This nice knife measures 4" in the closed position."

Great job fitting the clip.

Looks similar to some that Ragnar carries.

Yeah I have two now. I got one of the Birch and a Bubinga both. Like both but the Birch is a very warm feeling knife I must say. I do like how thin the blades are. They perform quite well as is typical of the knives made from that part of the world. They still focus on bare bones using knives there vs the high art focus you see here so that sits quite well with me.

If it is 4" oal with a 3" blade, why does the handle look longer than the blade in the pic?

JH

probably because a 4 inch handle is bigger than a 3 inch blade....;)

I'm holding mine right now and the handle is 1 inch longer than the blade.

The handle is 4.25" closed. OAL is blade open length including both handle and blade lengths in the equation. ;)
