What is the coating used on EKI production knives.I've noticed that after very little handling or pocket carry the black fades to grey. What if anything is goosd to re-coat these screws.I thought of dabbing some gun blue on them.Any suggestions?tom.

That would work, or I've found a black Sharpie marker works good as well.

I've noticed that, really don't care too much about it, they are users anyway :) my knives tend to look like crap after a while anyway.

It'd rock if all the hardware was boron coated by Bodycote though, but i think that'd be somewhat expensive.

:)

What I do is replace them with stainless or satin finish them with a scotchbrite, it looks good, especially on the pivots.

Well,the gun blue touch up didn't work.Next I'll go for MOJO's suggestion and scotch-brite them.After that it's 2Sharp's idea and the heck with it!tom.

p.s. seeing MoJo over the Gold Member just gave Me an Austin Powers moment.Oh,behave Baby!tom.

On a few of my Emersons, I've used Rust-oleum Bar-B-Q Black paint on the handle screws. It's a heat resistant oil based enamel used to paint grills and works well to touch up the wear on handle screws.

el cid,I'll give the BBQ paint a try since the gun blue didn't work.

Jonas,Yes the knife is great except the screw coating!Must have been the Sweedish weather.tom.LOL.:D
