Just finished up this one for a very patient customer. Either a VERY large Fighter, or a Bowie with a long/lean clip, not really sure which is more appropriate... but I do like the name "El Bruto" (yes I know its also a line of V-Twin engines). Im sidetracking myself...

Blade is forged W2, 10.5" x 2+", handle is Desert Ironwood, guard/trim are stainless. Here are some poor quality pics, the Sun just wasnt co operative.

Dang Matt,

That one is outstanding. I really like it when you put guards on your big fighters, and this one is exceptionally clean. Nice work!

I gotta say that I haven't been so keen on the last couple of knives I've seen come out of your shop, although lots of other people really loved them, but this one...
Matt, this is the shit!

Matt,
Can you give some idea, w/ the hamon, what exactly are we seeing- the jagged "splashes". Without giving away trade secrets, is this a functional or visual effect?

No doubt, it looks like a cheesburger.

Howdy all... the clip is sharp, not real sure on the weight though, guess I do need to get a digital scale. The balance point is just in front of the guard, blade is 1/4" at ricasso with not a whole lot of distal taper.

The areas that you see "flipping" up in the hamon are simply areas that the clay wasnt touching. Try to basically picture the clay in the areas above the line and you will have the basic area that I applied the clay to. Now this said, other factors come into play, soak time, apex heat, clay thickness, quinchant factors etc.

Thanks for all the kind words guys, got to get back at it and get some more out of the shop.

I never get tired of pure, classic custom bowies like these.

This is a knife!

In Southern Italian lingo a common scolding is "Faccia Bruta" or Ugly face. Typically used on small children and mobsters..

"Faccia Bruta" think I will borrow that name for a similar piece but in Damascus.

Thanks all for the input!
