Hi from an ignorant new guy...I recently bought a GATCO system which works fine for my shorter knives but not so well for long kitchen cutlery...I've started acquiring older carbon steel knives and I'm having a great deal of fun cleaning 'em up a little and resharpening as a hobby...can anyone tell me if any of the reasonably priced commercially available powered sharpeners work well without damaging the blades on good forged steel knives? One guy I talked to said the Chefs Choice model 120 and 130 were good, others have said don't EVER use anything but hand sharpening on a good knife. 
I wish I could claim that my hand sharpening skills were up to the task, but they're not, and hand sharpening a 12 inch blade with my little GATCO is a bit daunting to say the least...any advice you all have will be gladly accepted and considered...if I'm posting this in an inappropiate place /forum please forgive and advise. Thank you
