I just received my Elishewitz Janus. It has a 3.5" recurved Damasteel blade, and titanium handles with g-10 slabs and a bolster lock. It also consists of a Damasteel handle spacer which protrudes 1/16" out of the back of the handle.

The blade is razor-sharp. There is no blade play whatsoever. The handle lends itself nicely to a variety of grip positions.

It came with a stylish anodized titanium clip, and a cordura nylon pouch which fits the knife like a glove, and can be attached to a belt horizontally or vertically.

Overall, it's a very comfortable, very smooth knife, and I love it!

Sorry, no scanner...but Spark said he'd be making a few scans of his Janus soon.

That is a good looking knife. The Phantom has been my favorite Elishewitz knife. I may have to reconsider.

Stompy, how is the Bolster lock? I have to say it is a very attractive, clever design. Does your grip add the extra security a la the Integral lock? Does the clip interfere with this effect? Is the G-10 slab over the lock rigid enough, or does it flex a bit?

And how about the Damasteel? Does it need any special protectants? How is the surface, smooth or textured? Did it come from Mr. E sharp enough for you, or have you had a chance to sharpen it? It is probably too early to say about edge retention yet, but any impressions of the stuff would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance, sorry to bug you

StJames:

The bolster lock on the Janus has just enough spring, it ingages the blade PERFECTLY, and it is easy to disengage, but not so easy as to unlock subconsiously.

The blue anodised titanium clip has a firm amount of spring, and doesn't interfere with the grip.

The g-10 slabs over the lock are very rigid, it was one of the first things I checked when I got the knife!

The Damasteel blade is stainless, so it will not rust, although I wipe all fingerprints off of it with a silicon cloth before putting the knife away anyway.

The surface of the Damasteel blade is textured, it feels cool to run your finger across it

!

I believe the Janus is avialable with conventional ATS-34(or 154-CM) blade steel.
